  • Rail Transit Pre-Revenue Guidance

    BCG helped FTA to develop the current Circular 5800.1, which replaces elements of the older circular and identifies specific safety and security activities that a recipient must perform and document in the SSMP. The Circular clarifies SSMP update requirements, defines required safety and security management activities by project phase, and establishes FTA evaluation criteria. BCG further assisted FTA to develop guidance related to Circular 5800.1.

  • TCRP Releases Wayside Worker Protection Synthesis

    On April 4th, the Transit Research Board’s TCRP (Transit Cooperative Research Program) released Synthesis 95 – Practices for Wayside Rail Transit Worker Protection. The objectives of this study are to report the state of knowledge and practice (including lessons learned and gaps in information) regarding wayside worker protection programs at selected transit agencies.

  • Roadmap to Excellence

    Early in 2012, BCG supported FTA’s revision of the Roadmap to Excellence, establishing the structure of FTA’s Transit Bus Safety and Security Program. Elements of the Roadmap are based on recognized industry guidelines for achieving safety, security and emergency preparedness excellence, including: Management, Human Resources, Operations, Maintenance, Safety, Security, and Emergency Preparedness.
